On Thursday (29 weeks 5 days) when we went for our bi-weekly doctors appointment (when you hit third trimester, you have to go every other week for a prenatal visit). Mommas blood pressure was 134/83 and Dr. G seemed very concerned especially when he checked mom's urine and saw something he didnt like. So he ordered mom to take an immediate rest and call in favors for people to do the housework and cooking. Luckily Daddy has been doing most of that so it wasnt going to be too hard for mom. He also immediately ordered her to go get bloodwork and take a 24 hour urine sample the next day. Mom and dad were alarmed and scared to say the least. So we went the next day for the lab tests and prayed and rested all weekend hoping the results would come back ok. On Monday mom went to work. Her blood pressure thankfully never went higher than it was at the dr's office but mom was still worried to the max. On Tuesday (30 weeks 3 days) just as Mom and dad were getting on the commuter bus from the city to head back home to get in the car to drive to our Hypnobirthing Class, Dr. G calls with a serious and alarmed tone. He told mom she was starting to develop pre-eclampsia and that its very dangerous because the only way to cure it is to deliver the baby. So he wants her off her feet immediately. Momma asked him if it was ok to at least go to our Hypnobirth Class. He was very emphatic and serious with "Not at all. You need to be in bed." That freaked mama OUT! She immediately lost it and started crying. Dr. G told her that he needed her to go back and get the same blood work drawn and do the same 24 hour urine sample. He also told her that on Friday (the day after Thanksgiving) he has made her an appointment to the Perinatologist at the Valley Hospital. Mom couldn't believe this was really happening. Baby girls is NOT ready to come out yet. She would be extremely undeveloped and need to spend time in NICU for two months at least. She would be more at risk of dying let alone developmental delays and higher chances of other disorders like ADHD, learning disabilities, etc. After she hung up w/ Dr. G she cried and cried. Daddy finally consoled her and they got home and just rested for the rest of the week.
On Thursday night (30 weeks 5 days)/Thanksgiving night, Momma was so nervous and emotional about what they would come across the next day at the Perinatologists. So many thing were going through her head. Like, she is so NOT ready to be done working. She has soo many claims to close, so many things to put in order. Her office is a mess and she needs to just do way too much. She also worried about baby. Baby is sooo not ready to come out. The good news is that baby has a enormous chance of surviving. She has no question baby would survive, but baby would lead a very difficult life with so many chances of major life impacting disabilities. And momma would be crushed. She wants baby to have a normal easy life. So momma cried, prayed, and just tried to take it easy.
On Friday, the visit to the Perinatologist was not at all what she expected. In fact we didnt even meet with one. Instead they took a super high tech ultrasound and measured baby. We had this Russian older mom type technician who knew what she was doing. She was happy to report (in her own gruff type of way) that baby is measuring wonderfully. She has plenty of fluids, all her organs are great, her heart and heartbeat are perfect, and her cord pulse was great. Mom was super worried about the cord pulse because she has this fear of it being wrapped around her neck (which thankfully the 3d ultrasound ruled out) or of the cord being in a knot. But thankfully, the cord pulse was perfect. The lady said baby girl is weighing in at a whopping 3.9 lbs. Perfectly normal yay! After the scan, the results were sent to Dr. Golin. Hopefully he'll call us as soon as he gets the blood and urine results back and tell us how to proceed before next Thursdays appointment. Momma is going to sneak to work this week until she gets specific orders from Dr. G to not return to work. So technically this could be her last week of work. Please pray that it isnt and that she could at least finish December! Most importantly, please pray that her blood pressure stays down and there's no protein in her urine and that she doesnt develop pre eclampsia!
