On Wednesday 07/21/10, we had our 1st Trimester Screening Test/Nuchal Translucency Screening. Bascially we had to go to the hospital during the 12th week so they can do a high tech ultrasound and measure the baby's spinal fold and take blood from the mommy to confirm the diagnosis. Mom and dad were super nervous. Mom could barely eat breakfast. Thankfully grammy came along too (she was nosey and wanted to see baby again). They called us in and Grammy and Daddy sat in two chairs in this dark room. We were a little nervous because baby wasnt moving like it did on Monday. In fact it was super asleep! The technician tried everything to bother the baby to wake it up but it wouldn't wake up. The tech told mommy to cough so mommy kept trying to cough and cough to wake up the baby but nope, the baby said no way jose. I'm sleeping! So finally the tech was able to take a good enough picture of the baby. But mom and dad were nervous. Why didnt the baby move? Daddy said because its stubborn like he was when he was little. If he didn't want to do something, he wouldn't do it. Daddy said he didnt like being woken up when he was little and it looks like the baby doesn't either. Oh my, we have a difficult one on our hands! :) We are anxiously awaiting the results of the screening. Hopefully next week.
So far mommy has been feeling a tad better. The other day she did throw up when she was a fancy restaurant called Sofrito. She loved the food but something was making her nauseas. She ran to the bathroom and let it out. Then she sat back at the table and took it easy. Mommy's kind of bummed that the nausea is still sticking around. Especially since a lot of women say it magically diasppears on the 12th week! Not for mommy! :( But baby is totally worth it!
